Academic Performance...

Schools have shown great improvement, but we need to continue our efforts. The concerns about Graduation rates persist. The one size fits all approach is not always best. Is allowing students to progress to the next level, without mastery or even a thorough understanding of the necessary skills conducive to their success? Do all students have an appropriate level of support based on their individual needs? Professionals need to be flexible in their approach and evaluation practices. Teachers should be encouraged to vary their instruction according to the needs of the student.

Safety

  • Student safety remains our first priority. While I advocate continuing a close relationship with the Greece Police Department, we should also strive to avoid band-aid solutions to violence, putting our energy instead into proactive interventions and policies that will alter the environment our students learn in. Students need to know that their welfare is our top priority.

Audit

  • The New York State Comptroller’s audit has revealed improprieties concerning the misuse of public funds. If the trust of the community is to be regained, then we must get to the bottom of this situation. We urge that a “forensic” audit to be held so that the community can receive a thorough accounting, (explanation) to determine what, if any, wrong doing was committed. For this purpose, we will continue to cooperate fully with legal authorities until the matter is justly resolved.
